Opening Scene:
It's a calm, sunny morning. The camera frames a classroom where students are anxiously writing their exams. Ali is a 17-year-old student who sits at the end of the class. He drums on the desk with his pen, periodically checking the clock. He attempts to concentrate on the exam, but his mind wanders.
When the bell rings to signal the end of the exam, all the students are relieved. Ali is not. His face is white, and beads of sweat appear on his forehead. He knows something that the others do not. He feels that he has failed.
Scene 2: "The Dark Room
Ali returns home late that day. He stumbles in, feet dragging. He opens the exam results envelope. His worst nightmare is confirmed. He failed. The camera flashes his downcast face, and we hear the sound of his heartbeat pounding within his chest. He is struck as if time has frozen around him. Then the door opens.
Mohd, Ali's father, enters. He appears serious, and the light behind him casts a long shadow. Ali and his father exchange glances.
Scene 3: "The Confrontation"
Mohd: "What is this, Ali?"
Ali: (Looking down) "I… I failed, Baba. I didn't do well."
There's a long pause. Mohd inches closer to Ali. He isn't yelling, but it's obvious his disappointment. Shouting isn't necessary. His unspoken disappointment tells it all. Ali puts his head down, ashamed.
Mohd: "You had so many opportunities. And this is what you've done?"
Ali: (Hushed) "I'm sorry. I don't know what went wrong.
The camera pans back, and both of them are seen standing in silence. The music increases, and the moment becomes even more dramatic.
